Chip and Kristen got married at the Bakken Museum in midsummer, when the trees have donned their finest green cloaks and the hydrangeas are just beginning to nod their showy heads.
The museum has such a timeless, romantic quality, full of arched doorways, library stacks, and stained glass windows. Chip and Kristin and their loved ones filled the space with equal parts revelry and the soft-spoken resonance of belonging - to one another, to community, to the greater world that holds us all. The depth of love and regard surrounding the couple was echoed time & time again throughout their ceremony, which was officiated by Chip’s sibling and left no eyes dry (including mine!)
Some of my favorite details from this wedding were the curated gallery of antique wedding dresses and attire from family archives; the photo slideshow that made sure the couple’s beloved grey kitty got to have a place at the wedding (while undoubtedly curled up for a decadent nap back home in Portland); the audio guestbook, which was recorded via a vintage rotary phone; and the kransekake homemade by Kristen’s aunt in homage to the family’s Norwegian heritage. The wedding was a beautiful reflection of the sincere thoughtfulness, depth of presence, and artistic sensibilities that Kristin and Chip carry with them so graciously.
Cheers to two incredible people and a beautiful life together!
