Erin’s proposal to Claire at Nerstrand State Park was thoughtful from the very beginning. Months ahead, Erin reached out to plan something that included a hike and a stunning view, eventually landing on the falls at Nerstrand, a place they grew up visiting. On the day of, everyone bundled up for a one mile winter hike through snow covered trails, with Claire’s best friend and her two moms joining along, ready to celebrate. We planned for me to blend in as a nature photographer in the same spot, while quietly documenting the moment as it unfolded. Claire had a feeling the question was coming, but that didn’t make the moment any less special. When they reached the falls, Erin asked, and just like that, it all came together!
Afterward, the group popped champagne and soaked in the moment before heading into a full weekend of celebrating. Erin had more planned, including an engagement party at the American Swedish Institute with friends and a Minnesota Frost game where “she said yes” lit up on the banner, carrying that same excitement from the trail into the rest of the weekend.
